This adjustable BBQ heat shield, also known as a heat tent or flavourizer bar, is designed to replace a worn or damaged heat shield inside a barbecue. Made from 304 stainless steel, it is a practical replacement component for outdoor cooks who need to restore the shield over their burner area.

Which size should you choose?

The shield is 3.75 inches, or 9.5 cm, wide and 1 inch high. Its length depends on how it is assembled:

• Assembly option A: adjusts from 11.75 to 21 inches, or 30 to 53 cm.
• Assembly option B: adjusts from 11.75 to 18.37 inches, or 30 to 46.66 cm.

Use the shorter or longer adjustment range according to the space available in your barbecue. Measure the existing part and the available burner area before ordering. Pay particular attention to the overall length, 3.75-inch width and 1-inch height, as well as the locating points and supports inside your barbecue.

304 stainless steel construction

The heat shield is made from 304 stainless steel and is shown with a silver metal finish. The pictured construction uses a thicker 19-gauge sheet, measuring 1.1 mm, rather than the thinner 21-gauge, 0.8 mm sheet shown for comparison. The adjustable sections overlap and are secured using the visible fixing points, allowing the overall length to be altered within the stated ranges.

As a heat tent or flavourizer bar, the component sits between the burner and the cooking grate in a compatible barbecue. It helps provide a physical shield over the burner area while also forming part of the barbecue's heat-management arrangement. Fitting and care

Remove the old heat shield only when the barbecue is completely cool. Allow the barbecue and heat shield to cool fully before handling or cleaning. Remove loose cooking residue using your usual barbecue-cleaning method and store the component dry between uses. As with any replacement barbecue part, check its position before each cook and replace it if it becomes damaged or no longer sits securely.
