A practical single hotplate for flexible cooking
This single electric hotplate provides a straightforward way to cook, heat and simmer when a full cooker is not available or an additional cooking point is useful. It has a 1000W cast iron heating plate and five power levels, giving you a choice of heat settings for different stages of cooking.
Its tabletop format suits use in the home, while the portable design is also intended for camping and caravan cooking. Place it on a suitable, stable, heat-safe surface with room around the appliance before use.
What it offers
- Single cooking plate: a compact one-ring arrangement for everyday cooking or extra hob space.
- 1000W output: suitable for heating and cooking with the appropriate pan or container.
- Five power levels: use the rotary control to select the setting that suits the task, from gentler heating through to higher-temperature cooking.
- Cast iron heating plate: a solid cooking surface designed to work with suitable flat-bottomed cookware.
- Power indicator light: the front indicator provides a visible reminder that the hotplate is switched on.
Who this hotplate suits
Choose it when you need a simple single hob for preparing food away from a standard cooker, or when an extra cooking point would make meal preparation easier. It can be useful for small kitchens, occasional cooking, camping and caravan settings, as well as serving food at a table where a suitable electrical supply and safe work surface are available.
The five-stage control makes it possible to adjust the heat rather than relying on one fixed setting. This is useful when a recipe needs a lower setting for gentle heating or a higher setting for cooking. As with any hotplate, the pan and its contents will remain hot after the power is reduced or switched off.
How to choose suitable cookware
Use cookware with a flat base that is designed to withstand heat. The product is shown with glass, ceramic and metal vessels, including kettles, pans and teapots. Plastic containers must not be used on the hotplate. Before cooking, check that the base of your chosen vessel sits securely on the heating plate and is suitable for direct heat.
There is no supplied pan size or appliance dimension to use as a substitute for this check, so compare your cookware with the visible plate area and allow enough space for safe handling. Do not place empty cookware on the hotplate unnecessarily.
Using and caring for the hotplate
- Position the hotplate on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from anything that could be damaged by heat.
- Place suitable flat-bottomed cookware centrally on the cast iron plate.
- Select one of the five power levels using the control knob and monitor the food while it cooks.
- When cooking is complete, switch the control to the off position and allow the plate to cool fully.
- Once cool, wipe away food residue, grease and marks with a damp cloth or sponge.
Do not immerse the hotplate in water or any other liquid. Keep liquids away from the electrical controls and connection area. The surface carries a hot-panel warning, so take care when using, moving or cleaning the appliance, and remember that the indicator light and plate may remain hot until cooling is complete.
